Emily Kalina grew up in a ski lodge in Vermont, observing magical sceneries that inspired her career. Inheriting “the artistic gene,” she continued on her path and attended the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree majoring in Illustration. As a teacher’s assistant at RISD, she fell in love with watercolors, which led to selling her pieces to private clients while teaching at schools all over the nation.

Living with epilepsy, Emily has an eye for the simple beauties of the world. Her style varies from piece to piece, ranging from a soft realism to a striking impressionism. You can feel her personality in her works, which often feature an aura of peace, tranquility, and quiet beauty. From idyllic natural scenes to renderings of city streets, her paintings create a pleasant and calm atmosphere that you never want to leave.

She is an innovative and resourceful artist who was faced with the task of finding a new way to create art due to the escalating impact of her chronic condition. She decided to remodel her business and transition from watercolor to digital paintings, while focusing on convenience and sharing her art with the world.

Demonstrating it is possible to make a living while following one’s dreams and dealing with the unpredictability of a seizure disorder, she founded Emily Kalina Graphic Artist (EKGA). With EKGA, a digital business that creates paintings, products, and commissioned works, Kalina is inspiring the next generation of digital artists and collectives to turn their passion into thriving businesses.

With strong significant popular appeal, the digital medium has given Emily the opportunity to take direct control over the sale and distribution of her work, allowing all customers to own any authentic version of her work.
