The Artist and Instructor

The cover art was created by Barbara Campbell Citrenbaum, a participant in the Wayne Art Center’s Meet Me at WAC program, taught by Instructor Louise Dusinberre.

Wayne Art Center

Wayne Art Center in Wayne, PA led by Executive Director Nancy Campbell, provides artists and the broader community an interdisciplinary venue to explore, share, and learn, while fostering a sense of community for arts education and appreciation. Since its founding in 1931, Wayne Art Center has evolved into one of the most vibrant art centers in the region, reaching more than 35,000 visitors and program participants annually. The Center provides instruction in all phases of the visual and performing arts as well as a venue for local, regional and national exhibitions, performances, and special events.

Offering art instruction to those with underserved or special needs—no matter their age, abilities, or financial status—is a key part of Wayne Art Center’s mission. Through Outreach Programs, Wayne Art Center forms partnerships with special needs populations, schools, and other groups in order to increase access to the arts and provides arts enrichment activities and positive social interactions.

Meet Me at WAC

The Meet Me at WAC program was established in 2016 for individuals with early to midstage Alzheimer disease and their family members or care partners. Exposure to art for those with Alzheimer dementia has been shown to improve short-term memory, increase self-confidence, and offer a meaningful cultural experience. At Meet Me at WAC, individuals with Alzheimer disease and their caregivers enjoy a stimulating discussion focusing on selected works of art in the Wayne Art Center galleries followed by a simple, hands-on art project. The 90-minute program is led by an experienced art instructor at Wayne Art Center.
