OFF Periods in Parkinson Disease Affect Sleep
OFF episodes have been shown to affect the ability of people with Parkinson disease (PD) to fall asleep and stay asleep.
"Sleep disturbances in individuals with Parkinson disease can significantly impact health, mood, and quality of life," said Eiry W. Roberts, MD, chief medical officer at Neurocrine Biosciences. "These data provide insight on the impact of OFF episodes and their contribution to sleep disturbances, both in falling asleep and staying asleep. At Neurocrine Biosciences, we are committed to furthering understanding of the wide-ranging effects of movement disorders to elevate care for the patients we serve."
These post-hoc analyses used baseline data from 2 phase 3 studies of opicapone for adjunctive treatmen of PD and were presented at the American Professional Sleep Society's annual meeting SLEEP 2022 held June 4-8 in Charlotte, NC.
