New Resources Available at MoreThanMemoryLoss.com--Launched Today in Honor of National Caregivers Day

02/19/2021

In honor of National Caregiver's Day, a new educational website and resource center, MoreThanMemoryLoss.com, has launched. The site is designed for caregivers of people who are living with dementia-related hallucinations and delusions. The site includes information about dementia as well as the hallucinations and delusions that can be associated with dementias from Alzheimer disease to vascular dementia and more.

Extensive research on the caregiver experience and input from caregiver advocacy groups were used in creating the design and content of MoreThanMemoryLoss.com. Offered resources are actionable and educational. Stories from caregivers on the site may help address the isolation that many caregivers experience. A guide to discussing these challenging symptoms is also included. The site aims to assist caregivers coping with these challenging symptoms.

“As a leading, national caregiver organization, we hear from dementia caregivers every day about the challenges they experience caring for loved ones with behavioral symptoms of dementia. This new resource provides information and support to address these symptoms that can have a devastating impact on families,” said John Schall, Chief Executive Officer, Caregiver Action Network.

“Caregivers often believe their job is to protect the image of their loved one and to hide the symptoms of dementia-related psychosis from others,” said Charmaine Lykins, Senior Vice President, Global Product Planning and Chief Marketing Officer, at Acadia Pharmaceuticals, the site sponsor. “MoreThanMemoryLoss.com is an educational resource dedicated to providing caregivers with information and tools needed to start important conversations about dementia-related hallucinations and delusions with their loved one’s healthcare providers.”
