National Online Directory of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Specialists Launched
A national online database of healthcare providers (HCPs) who treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) has been launched by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America (MTPA). The ALS Care Locator is a database of HCPs that can be searched by city, state, and zip code for ALS centers or individual HCPs who have opted in to participate in the directory. The directory is within a direct-to-consumer advertising website for edaravone (Radicava, MTPA, Jersey City, NJ), which is approved for the treatment of ALS.
The directory designates practitioners who have submitted at least 1 benefit investigation for edaravone as having experience with the drug. There are no fees or payments of any kind associated with being included in the directory and participation is entirely voluntary. Neither inclusion nor nonparticipation reflect any opinion of a practice by MTPA.
"In our efforts to provide support to help people with ALS navigate their care, we identified a need for a convenient way to research healthcare providers with the specialized knowledge about this rare disease," said Andy Fujimoto, President, MTPA. "As part of our commitment to the ALS community, we believe it's important to provide this type of resource and are excited to be able to do so."
