“Giants of MS” Award Presented to 7 MS Leaders at 2024 CMSC Annual Meeting
Several leaders in different areas of multiple sclerosis (MS) research received the “Giants of MS” award for their contributions and achievements. One recipient was selected for each of the 7 award categories, including: Advanced Care Provider, Mental Health, Neurology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Rehabilitation, and Research. The “Giants of MS” awards were granted to the 7 recipients at a ceremony held on May 30, 2024, at the 24th Annual Meeting of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) held in Nashville, Tennessee.
The “Giants of MS” awards were established in 2021 and are granted each year to innovators and visionaries who are renowned for their contributions to MS research. Honorees are nominated by their colleagues, and finalists are selected by an advisory board. The final award recipients are selected by vote by a committee consisting of 30 MS professionals.
The 2024 “Giants of MS” award recipients are:
- Advanced Practice Provider: Colleen Harris, MN, NP, MSCN, University of Calgary MS Clinic
- Mental Health: Rosalind Kalb, PhD, CHC, Can Do Multiple Sclerosis
- Neurology: Jeffrey Cohen, MD, Cleveland Clinic
- Nursing: Aprile Royal, RN, BA, Med, St. Michael's Hospital Toronto
- Pharmacy: Jacquelyn Bainbridge, PharmD, BSPharm, FCCP, MSCS, FAES, University of Colorado
- Rehabilitation: John DeLuca, PhD, Kessler Foundation/RutgersNew Jersey Medical School
- Research: Howard Weiner, MD, Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School
