Catherine Chu, MD, to Lead Pediatric Neurology at Kennedy Krieger and Johns Hopkins
Catherine Chu, MD, MA, MMSc, has been named Vice President of Child Neurology of the Kennedy Krieger Institute and will also serve as Director of the Division of Pediatric Neurology and the John M. Freeman Pediatric Epilepsy Center at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. According to a statement released by the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Dr. Chu will manage a joint team of more than 50 child neurologists in her new role, where she will also lead efforts to expand clinical services and training programs.
Dr. Chu previously served as a neurologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she directed the pediatric neurology residency program and developed both a pediatric EEG monitoring program and a regional pediatric neurostimulation program. Additionally, she served as an Associate Professor of Neurology and member of the faculty at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging and the Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Chu’s research focuses on cognitive dysfunction and seizures in epilepsy and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Dr. Chu holds medical and master’s degrees from Harvard University and completed residency and fellowship training in pediatric neurology, epilepsy, and neurophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
