The 2024 Brain Health Academy, a series of educational courses provided by the nonprofit organization UsAgainstAlzheimer’s, will begin on Thursday, May 9, 2024. The online courses are free of charge and are intended to provide health care and wellness providers with tools and resources to assist patients who may have or be at risk of developing Alzheimer disease (AD) and related dementias. Additionally, through the American Society on Aging, individuals who participate in Brain Health Academy courses may receive continuing education (CE) credits.

The Brain Health Academy first offered its educational programs in 2022. The free sessions are each 1 hour in duration and will be recorded and available online for 60 days after the live presentation to enable on-demand viewing and reviewing. Participants must preregister online to take part in the sessions.

This year, with a focus on healthy lifestyle habits, the Brain Health Academy is offering courses on the following topics:

  • Cognitive training and dementia
  • Social isolation, loneliness, and dementia

After completing the academy, 63% of healthcare providers indicated that the courses changed how they supported patients.
