The AAIC Presents Lifetime Achievement Awards in Alzheimer Disease Research
Three awardees were recognized at the 2024 meeting of the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC), receiving AAIC Lifetime Achievement Awards in Alzheimer disease (AD) research. These awards celebrate the leadership, research, and mentorship contributions of senior investigators, who have advanced the field’s work in AD, including medical, biological, and public health research. There are 3 awards, each named after the original Co-Founders of the AAIC.
Ralph A. Nixon, PhD, Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Cell Biology at New York University Grossman School of Medicine, was awarded the Khalid Iqbal Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr Nixon is recognized for his work as Director of the Center for Dementia Research at the Nathan S. Kline Institute.
Ricardo Nitrini, PhD, Full Professor of Neurology at the University of São Paolo Medical School, was awarded the Henry Wisniewski Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr Nitrini is recognized for his work as Founder and Co-Founder of the Cognitive and Behavioral Neurology Group and Founder of the Reference Center for Cognitive Disorders.
Goldie S. Byrd, PhD, Professor of Social Sciences and Health Policy at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, was awarded the Bengt Winblad Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr Byrd was recognized for her work as Director of the Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity.
