Muscular Dystrophy Association Announces the Start of 30 Days of Strength Campaign

09/08/2023

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) has announced the start of its 30 Days of Strength campaign for September, which is National Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month. Throughout the month, the MDA will collaborate with influencers and community leaders, including Nyheim Hines, running back for the Buffalo Bills and MDA National Spokesperson, to raise awareness and funds to support people with muscular dystrophy and their families.

The campaign targets support for people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Charcot-Marie Tooth disease (CMT), Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), and other related neuromuscular disorders. The MDA is particularly focused on raising funds to advance research into disease states and the development of new therapies as well to support people with muscular dystrophy by providing access to MDA Care Centers throughout the country.

“Because of MDA’s investment in gene-based therapies and data collection, many gene therapy trials are underway in what we call the pipeline of promise,” said Donald S. Wood, PhD, President and CEO of the MDA. “We hope you join us throughout September as we celebrate 30 Days of Strength.”

The MDA board has approved the distribution of $8.4 million in research grants for September.
