Award Recipients Recognized at the 2024 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders
The International Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Society (MDS) has announced recipients of the 2024 MDS Awards. The awards honor professionals in the field who are elevating care for movement disorders through their contributions to research, scholarship, and clinical work. The awards and honors announced and presented at the 2024 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders include the Articles of the Year awards, Junior Awards, and Presidential Lecture Awards, among others.
The Movement Disorders Research and Review Articles of the Year and the Movement Disorders Clinical Practice Research and Review Articles of the Year are selected from articles published between July 2023 and June 2024 by the Editorial and Advisory Board members of the respective journals.

Edwin Jabbari, PhD, MRCP of Queen Square National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Queen Square Institute of Neurology is receiving a Junior Award.

Bahne Bahners, MD of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School is receiving a Junior Award.

Recipients of the Presidential Lecture Awards comprise the MDS’s most esteemed honorees, invited to speak at the International Congress and selected by the MDS Awards Committee.
Prof. Dr. Marina De Koning-Tijssen of the University Medical Centre Groningen is receiving the Stanley Fahn Lecture Award in recognition of her contributions that have improved diagnosis for hyperkinetic movement disorders.
- Lecture Title: Next Generation Phenotyping in Movement Disorders
Virginia Man-Yee Lee, PhD of the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine is receiving the C. David Marsden Lecture Award for her work in advancing the understanding of the role of amyloid plaques and tau protein in Alzheimer disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
