About the Cover Artist: Blue in Green by Tommy Roberts
Tommy Roberts’ love of art blossomed after he was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at the age of 9.
Tommy Roberts’ love of art developed during early childhood. Although Tommy drew and painted from a very young age, his artistic development blossomed at the age of 9 when he was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. Although his physical condition confined him to a wheelchair which kept him from running and playing sports with his neighborhood friends, his artistic appetite increased, and he used art as an alternative outlet for enjoying his childhood. Tommy continued to develop his artistic sense as an adult, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Tommy enjoys the wonders and enlightenment associated with traveling. He has visited such places as Paris, the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Jamaica, and Mexico, and even had the opportunity to paint in Monet’s garden in Giverny, France. These various travel and life experiences have helped Tommy develop his unique drawing and painting style.
He has an uncanny ability to capture the emotions, character, and spirit of the subjects featured in his portraits. His landscape paintings reflect the atmosphere, beauty, and essence of the scene.
Tommy has an enthusiasm for life and art, and his goal is to convey his impressions of the various people and artists he has met or read about as well as the places he has visited. As Tommy notes, “Learning from everyone helps me to become the best man and artist I can be. Creating art is a spiritual high that fills my soul with joy.”
